5 Things to Research Before Writing Your Resume Building Your Future Now

5 Things to Research Before Writing Your Resume Building Your Future Now Before you sit down to write your resume, it is imperative you do a bit of research. There is a lot of competition out there which means you must look at each and every opportunity to create a resume that catches the eye: format-wise, with keywords and pertinent experience that relates to the job you are applying for. Here are 5 things to research before putting pen to paper: 1.Job Post Key Words Most of us do not thinking about the job posting much aside giving info about the duties related to the job, company info and qualifications needed. But when you dig deeper the job posting has so much important information that you need to consider adding to your resume. Keywords are invaluable when writing your resume. They are important words that are found in the job positing and should and must be used in your resume. One big reason: ATS (Automated Tracking Systems) scan your resume looking for these words. 2.Industry Specific Keywords Having two sets of resumes is essential. The resume(s) that you write specifically for a job posting are your most important ones. They are geared for that position and thus gives you a better chance to landing an interview. The generic resume with industry-related keywords is great to have around just to send out or give to someone quickly. Sometimes one of these generic resumes can effectively do the trick. 3.Summary of Experience Research and review your experience. What does each job relate to the one your applying for now? Be sure to keep your experience portion of the resume and focused. Additionally look at other resumes/LinkedIn profiles of professionals similar to you and see what their experience is like. 4.Several Key Stand-out Info Have you done something amazing or unique that can separate you from other candidates? Be sure to write it down and be as detailed as possible. Include it in your coverletter and look at ways it could be relatable to the job you are applying for. Dont be modestthis is the right time to trump your major accomplishment(s). 5.Company Site/Social Media Getting to know a bit about the company you are sending your resume to is key. Check out the company site, social media accounts and try Googling them for more information. Adding a few points about the company on your coverletter is a great way to show your knowledge about them. Furthermore if you get the interview knowing about them may give you the edge over other candidates. Image: StartupstockPhotos

Objective in a Resume For Cashier Job - Why You Should Write an Objective in a Resume

Objective in a Resume For Cashier Job - Why You Should Write an Objective in a ResumeWriting an objective in a resume for cashier job is one of the most common mistakes in these job listings. If you find that you are making this mistake, it would be best if you know why you are making it. In the end, knowing this will help you avoid making the same mistake again. The reason why writing an objective in a resume for cashier job is so common is because the job description is very general. A cashier job description could include anything from a desk to a computer to being able to stock shelves and getting orders through an online ordering system. If you have a job description that can describe all the work that you will do, why should you include an objective in your resume? Writing an objective in a resume for cashier job is used because the employer is describing a standard form of employment. However, if you do have a job description that does not even tell you what you will be doing, w hy include an objective? Employers only want to know that you will be able to perform the tasks that they expect you to do. If you fail to mention specific skills, you will be leaving that job description out and opening yourself up to being overlooked. It is better to just list the tasks that you will be doing on the first page of your resume.Another reason why an objective is used in a resume for cashier job is because the employer has not really defined what the job description is going to be. You may be applying for a job with a store that does not even have a cashier position. Your resume may be useless and you will get rejected because you did not prepare the details of your job.One of the biggest mistakes that a person makes when he or she writes an objective in a resume for cashier jobis that they do not include a time frame for how long they are going to be working for the company. Some jobs are seasonal, some are short term, and some are long term. By stating a time frame for your work, you will make it much easier for the employer to consider you for the job.Writing an objective in a resume for cashier job also requires that you include the job description as well. If you have to fill out the whole document from scratch, you are going to have to go back and re-write the sections that were listed in the job description. You will have to list the duties that you will be performing, the salary, the location, and the benefits that you will be receiving. It is easy to have problems with a job description that does not specifically state what you will be doing. The objective in a resume for cashier job is just another form of advertising. It is not actually writing an advertisement but it can be a great way to get some attention to yourself. This is especially true if you are applying for a job where there is no guarantee that you will get hired.Once you have written your resume, the next step is to make sure that you have included all of the necessary det ails for the employer to see. If you are already hired, make sure that you list the job title and job location on your resume. It is important to mention the dates on your resume as well, so that the employer can decide whether or not you will fit into their business. There are several things that you can do to improve your chances of being hired in a cashier job listing.

Legal Basics For Dummies

Legal Basics For Dummies So, you have a degree in business, or biology, or whatever it was that held your attention for four years.  But life isnt just about business or biology.  At every turn, there are legal ramifications to what youre doing or contemplating.  To be a functional adult in todays world, we all have to at least know some legal basics. But unless you were on a pre-law track, you probably had little or no legal education.  We cant fix that here.   You may know that following an auto accident its a good idea to  call a legal professional.  But what about your employment?   Or the rest of your daily activities? Based on the most common activities in modern everyday life, here are some quick legal basics that are worth remembering. At Work Did you know that in most cases your employment is at will?  That means either you or your employer can terminate your employment without cause.  And without advance notice.  Exceptions to that are sometimes found in local law, or your employment or labor contract, if you have one.  Those may provide for notice or create other limitations.  It can get complicated, and whether the termination is with or without cause (a legitimate reason) might be a question for professional legal advice. The Internet Were all on it every day.  Sometimes for many hours.  Its all public domain for your free use, right?  WRONG.  Copying protected material may result in an unwelcome phone call or letter.  At best, youll be asked to remove the offending material.  At worst, youll be dragged into court and be potential liable for many thousands of dollars of damages to the copyright owner. Just because its online doesnt mean you have a right to copy, download, or use it.  You should be aware of copyright restrictions, which vary greatly.  And remember that todays technology allows copyright owners and their agents to search and find infringing material even if the material has been significantly altered, appended, or modified.  When in doubt, ask. Everywhere Else In a nutshell, youre always liable for what you do and what you cause.  That doesnt mean you have to live your life in hiding.  It does mean that being aware of your actions and choices is important.  A simple reminder might be to ask yourself How would I feel about this if I were the other person? To that add a little common sense, and youre likely to avoid most of lifes legal pitfalls.

Using Resume Examples

Using Resume ExamplesWhile some people like to show off their resumes, others tend to like having them copied and pasted into a folder somewhere so they can keep the entire thing in one place. While there are plenty of ways to create your own copy of your resume, why not take advantage of what the pros are doing? There are many resources available online to help you create your own resume examples. In fact, most professionals have websites that allow you to preview a resume that you will be required to use at some point. Even if you have never used a computer before, you can easily figure out how to format a resume, using templates that are easy to use and add additional information as needed.Employers and hiring managers will typically use these resume examples, since they are used to seeing them before and during their job searches. Even if you choose to do all of the formatting yourself, most people prefer to hire someone who knows what they are doing, instead of trying to find the information themselves. You will get an unbiased opinion about your work history, as well as a good idea of how to format your resume if you take advantage of these resources. While it is likely that you will only need to create a few of these resume examples, it will be worth it to have a professional do it for you, since it will be used to help create your high quality resume. If you do not hire a professional, you may end up with one that is not as polished as you would like. You may end up sacrificing important information that should be on your resume for more 'creative' space. There are some things to consider when considering the professional resume examples that are available. Some websites require you to submit your work history by one of several methods. You will need to decide if you want to use a traditional method, such as submitting in Word or Excel, or if you would prefer to simply input information by hand. Some websites even provide a template that you can use in plac e of a full resume. This can make it easier to format your information, and if you have trouble writing a full-length document, this can help you create a simple document. It is even possible to generate a PDF version of your resume after you complete the initial formatting. The websites that provide examples also usually provide information on how to file a resume, an official job application, or a cover letter. They may also have sample letters that you can use as templates for your own documents.Remember that when you have a computer and the internet, it is easier than ever to create resume examples. Professional resume examples are available, and the information is easy to find. When you are trying to get your career off the ground, having a resume in place that can stand the test of time is very important.

Stuck In Your Job Search Get Off That Plateau

Stuck In Your Job Search Get Off That Plateau When your job search has been spinning its figurative wheels and all your efforts are ineffective, you have hit the plateau. The plateau effect is named after the geologic formation called a plateau: a level stretch of land that extends for many miles. You see the plateau effect in exercising, in medicine, and in a lot of other areas the thing that worked previously is no longer working and something new has to happen in order to see change. Make a list of what you have been doing in your job search.  This is your assessment tool, so be thorough and honest with yourself. If you have only been looking at the newspaper or online job boards, say so. You want to have a visible list of what your plateau looks like. In physical therapy, the therapist will get very specific about how many steps the patient took, for instance, or exact range of motion in the shoulder they are rehabilitating. That specific list allows them to see where there has or has not been change so they know what to work on. For your job search list, keep track of how many jobs you actually applied for and when you worked on your resume, etc. Set goals a little outside your comfort zone. That physical therapist will push the patient past what feels good but not as far as injury. This is how the body gets off the plateau safely and the shoulder gains the next degree of motion. Are you on LinkedIn? Maybe now is the time to consider that. The plateau happens because we get comfortable and stabilize. That isnt always a bad thing, but in your job search it is! If you are ready to get off that plateau, it is going to involve some discomfort as you do unfamiliar things and explore new territory in job search resources. The results of getting off that job search plateau are new skills, deeper understanding, and more job opportunities.
